Kids' party ideas
« on: May 07, 2009, 05:21:18 PM »

Do you have any fun and interesting ideas or themes for birthday parties for kids? Pirate scavenger hunts? Fairy garden parties? Or something with an altruistic bent?

Please share your ideas here for possible use in an upcoming story in Capital District Parent Pages. You can also e-mail your ideas to robertsk@cdparentpages.com.

Looking forward to hearing what you all have to say!

A great way to host a child’s birthday party is to have a jewelry-making party.  I recently had my daughter’s 9th birthday at the Glennpeter Jewelry Store on Central Avenue in Colonie.  Who would have thought they’d have a party room in a jewelry store, right?  Well turns out their events coordinator, Donna, specializes in bead jewelry and helps the girls design and string together bracelets that the girls can take home.  For the duration of her party, my daughter even got to wear a $20k tiara and take a tour into the vault! Talk about being treated like a princess!  Food and drinks were provided…and I brought along the birthday cake.  The staff was very friendly and warm and aside from the bracelet, the girls also got a t-shirt and balloon to take home.

Since kids are out for Christmas, we may want to move tomorrows flying to Hansen Park.  What do you think?

Elizabeth Ellen Jewelry Boutique in Guilderland on Western Ave. (near Carmen Rd.) holds really cool birthday parties.
They give you a selection of beads depending on the stlye of bracelet you choose. They also assist you in creating a stylish bracelet that your girl will actually want to wear.

What is really cool is that the birthday girls and her friends get to stand on a real red carpet to show off their stylish creation in front of their backdrop with spotlights just like celebrities! They send the pictures to the birthday girl.  My Birthday girl also got her fame as she received a celebrity sidewalk star in her name.

The price was very reasonable to. We had a lot of girls there. I think they can even host up to 20 girls.
The girls had lots of fun...and loved their bracelets.
Oh, and all the girls and their parents get a discount off the jewelry in the store for that day! Smiley

The options are endless my friend, for boys you could go with the sterotypical sports, laser quest, etc.. Heroes and villains party where they get to dress up is always fun.

For girls the jewelry making one is a great idea, also anything with dressing up
