Ludlow The Ludlow Rotary Club has provided scholarships to area collegiate and vocational students for more than 25 years. The cost of secondary education is continuing to climb at a rapid pace and economic conditions require our young people to be more prepared than ever to compete in the marketplace.
The February issue of Scientific American magazine reported that 243,000 undergraduate degrees in science disciplines were awarded in the USA in 2009, up 102 percent from 20 years earlier, providing additional evidence of the stiff competition our young people face.
The appeal for the public to supplement the traditional scholarship funds raised by the Ludlow Rotary Club each year will allow the Ludlow Rotary Club to increase the scholarships awarded to area students in June. Through Jan. 24, over $500 in supplemental scholarship funds has been received, but more is needed, according to club member Brenda Clark.
Checks should be made payable to the Ludlow Area Rotary Charitable Fund, Inc. with “Scholarship Fund” entered in the memo area of the check, and then mailed to: Ludlow Rotary Club, P.O. Box 216, Ludlow, Vt. 05149.
The Ludlow Rotary Club provides documentation for donations to the scholarship fund.
