The ALCO Hertiage Museum on Sunday, June 10, held its grand opening and around 2,500 people attended to get their first look at the museum. Several local officials and former American Locomotive Company employees attended the ceremony. Work on the museum is ongoing, but there were several different exhibits on display, including a M-47 Patton Tank and the 1909 Black Beast Automobile. Children were able to watch model trains glide along tracks and there were two train simulations allowing kids to don the conductor cap. There is also a section featuring employee history at the ALCO and its Oral History Project, which is an interview with former employees recorded on camera.
